It is with such a heavy heart that I post that December 11, 2007 I had to help my dear sweet Tessa leave us.  Tessa was diagnosed in May of 2005 with a terminal liver disease and the prognosis was grim – probably 4-6 months at the best case a year.  But being the trooper and fighter that she was my “Big Nose” made it much longer than any of us could have imagined – and even made it to her 9th Birthday at the end of November.  But the last few weeks she really started to slip – the cold weather here made her arthritis flair up to the point that the pain meds she could take weren’t managing it, but then we had a Chinook and the warmer weather seemed to bring some relief - for a few days anyway…but Tessie started lying around more and more and was often shaking while she just laid there with very sunken eyes…it had become increasingly hard to get her up to go outside and to get her up to eat.  She was not attacking her food with her usual gusto (she LOVED her food) and was now always the last one done eating….but the final straw was when she just didn’t even want to try and get up to eat – I just couldn’t watch my precious girl like that any longer.  So we made the difficult decision that it was time.

I thank her breeder Jan Edmunds for letting us bring this wonderful girl home 9 years ago – our life has been forever changed by having her as a part of it.  I know I will see my girl again…..someday.

Goodbye my Big Nose – I will love you always.
